In 2013 Pearse Lyons began restoring St. James’ Church, Dublin, in order to set up a distillery inside this historic building. By 2017 Pearse was ready to start bottling his 5 year old Irish Whiskey.
Shortly after Pearse Lyons’ death in 2018, we were invited to redesign the 5, 7 and 12 year Pearse Whiskeys to help establish them as a premium Irish whiskey and as part of a larger marketing drive to increase the brand recognition.
The bottle shape and main Pearse logo were the two fixed elements that we had to incorporate into our design considerations. We featured the two small batch copper pot stills, Mighty Molly & Little Lizzy, on the front of the label and drew inspiration from the stained glass windows and mouldings within the church itself for some of the other graphical elements.
We chose colours to represent the Original, Distillers Choice and Founders Choice variants. The label was accented with raised gold foil which helped establish the premium quality of the product.
